USUALLY, we add an S to nouns to make them plural.
le chien -> les chiens
le chat -> les chats
la vache ->les vaches
BUT some words never take an S: they are invariable. For example, some color adjectives are invariable.
Des hamsters marron

Some words do not take an S, but take an X:
Des chevaux
