The simple future – regular verbs

The simple future tense is used to talk about events that will happen in the future, but have not yet taken place.

Formation

• Je infinitive + ai

• Tu infinitive + as

• Il, elle, on infinitive + a

• Nous infinitive + ons

• Vous infinitive + ez

• Ils, elles infinitive + ont

Example: acheter – to buy –

• J’achèterai

• Tu achèteras

• Il, elle, on achètera

• Nous achèterons

• Vous achèterez

• Ils, elles achèteront

⚠️ Attention: the “e” in the stem takes a grave accent (è) in the future tense.
